When it comes to lenses, any photographer or filmmaker knows that this is actually more important than the camera.
The reality is, prime lenses, lenses that cant zoom, do provide better picture quality, this is because its easier for a manufacturer to focus the elements without moving glass, making precision more 'refinable'.
The problem with that is, now you need more lenses to make sure you have all your focal lengths covered, wide, not so wide, medium, medium to telephoto and telephoto...which makes this an expensive, but precise exercise.
This is where IRIX steps in, a manufactuer of glass that looks for perfection in everything they do, and they affordable...$1200...thats about R28 000.
Now hold on, before you say 'thats not affordable'...in the world of professional cine lenses that can retail for $30k and up (R800 000), these lenses produces some staggeringly close optics to those $30k pieces of glass. And we got to test the brand new IRIX 65mm T1.5.
