It was completely raw and organic...honestly, this was just pure Steve and his beautiful little girl enjoying her new love for dancing.

And although she may not be the worlds greatest dancer, in a fathers eyes, your child is always doing their best.

We filmed just pure interactions between these 2, and whatever happened, happened. Never did we think that the audience would appreciate the unscripted moments that just unfolded.

Lion and Safari Park put on the most beautiful engagement setup for what I could possibly see one of the most South African proposals you could possibly experience.

Shaylen and Chiara had the ultimate experience and we had the privilege of capturing this magical proposal. The Shoe Game is possibly one of the best wedding traditions a couple can do.

During your reception, the bride and groom take a back to back seat in the centre of the dance floor. Then the MC, or someone from the bridal party fires a bunch of questions at the couple, essentially trying to determine their compatibility.

Getting the answers all correct isn't the actually the point of the game, but when questions are fired like..."who is neatest?" or "who is the best cook"...its the incorrect compatibility that becomes funny and amusing.

The irony of the game is the incompatibility shown after the marriage...and this once again proves the point, that we are all different and sometimes we find love in the differences we share.

Why do some photographers charge more?

1. Gear Does Make a Difference

When you looking for pricing, you will notice that pricing can drastically change from R800 per hour, up to R2000 per hour, or more.

Now you probably thinking to yourself, why should you pay more per hour...why not take the cheapest price...right...wrong!

The reality behind a successful events photographer is not JUST their experience but also the gear they have. Yes, gear DOES matter, don't listen to those that tell you it doesn't. Most people preaching that gear doesn't matter, don't have a lot of gear.

Owning multiple camera bodies is a start, cameras don't last forever, and sometimes they pack up on a shoot...this is when multiple camera bodies is essential.

Then you have multiple lenses, perhaps a photographer drops or breaks a lens, its good to have a spare...but not just that, different lenses, do different things.

Here's an example of what a wide lens can do, it captures things from a different perspective, showing a much larger space and make it look epic.

And here's an example of a lens which we call telephoto lenses, these allow photographers to capture close up personal shots from a distance...almost as if you were right there in person even though we standing really far away.

Now this is the difference basic gear can do...

2. A Photographers Experience photographing Events

One of the biggest changes to the cost of an events photographer is their experience with events. Most unexperienced photographers will run around taking thousands of photographs at an event. The problem with this, is whilst they may be taking thousands of photos, they not concentrating on the event itself, and which moments are actually important.

Experience photographers understand which images the clients want and need...after all, receiving a thousand images from a 4 hour event is absolutely pointless. Instead, getting 100 to 200 images that capture the event perfectly is far better for the client, especially when it comes to newsletters and social media posts.

When Armand contacted us for another music video, we were super excited...with National Braai Day around the corner, Charka being the songs name...we knew its going to be a fun one!

The entire music video was filmed at Dikhololo in Brits, and we actually filmed the entire video in a space of about 6 hours.

The video was filmed entirely on the new Sirui Nightwalker Cine Lenses in 4K.

How much does a Music Video cost to film and edit?

Music video costing can vary, and it depends on a lot of factors.

Some music videos require a lot more lighting, planning, location travelling and multiple days.

A very simple 1 day music video cost to film and edit ranges from R20 000 to R50 000.

However, the more detailed the video gets, the more the pricing increases. The above costing excludes the pricing of planning, script writing, ideas, location hire, props, gear, actors etc.

When you book an events photographer for your party, or festival...there's a few things to consider.

1. Does their photography style suit you, or the brand you need it for?

2. Does their photography style capture the event as it should be seen, just because a style may be catchy, doesn't mean it actually captures an event the way it should be.

3. Are the photographers photos in their portfolio limited, do they show you 1 or 2, or does the photographer actually show you a range of photos and styles.

4. Can you work with the photographer, are they fun to work with, have they got the character and personality for your event?

5. Are they the photographer that shoots group photos, or do they stay out of the way and capture real engaging moments?

These are just some points that are really important...the truth is, don't fall for the promises of 1000 or 3000 images from your event, you don't need them. The truth is, 500 photos is a LOT!

This is one of those topics that, less, is more!

Also, make sure the event photographer you booking has shot events before, different events...although they may not match your exact event, they have captured events from festivals to corporates, to bands...this shows their range and ability to work under changing environments.

Once you've answered all the above questions to your satisfactory...then you've probably found your photographer.
